Perry founded Mattern Capital Management with his outstanding team of professionals and has 27 years of finance experience. Previously, he served as a Managing Director – Investment Officer and Senior Private Investment Management Portfolio Manager at Wells Fargo Advisors and its predecessor firms for the last 18 years. Under his leadership, the practice group became one of the firm’s most highly regarded, nationally recognized, wealth management practices in the country, providing ‘Personal CFO’ fiduciary services to high net worth families, successful individuals, and businesses.
Perry has a deeply held belief that people’s financial picture is about much more than their money – it’s about their entire life story. His own story is one of growing up in a small town, working in the family store and on his grandparents’ farm, and carrying with him the values of hard work, integrity, attention to detail, and the importance of family.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration with a major in financial management from the University of North Dakota. He completed the extensive requirements to become a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional through the College for Financial Planning and later earned the Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA®) designation from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Perry has served an instructor of continuing professional education for CPAs, Enrolled Agents and attorneys, and is committed to lifelong learning.

Perry and his wife, Stacy, live in Evergreen with their children Lauren, who attends Miami University in Ohio, and Nicholas, who attends Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. They are active supporters and strong advocates for many charities, including the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes, Children’s Hospital Colorado, and Marisol Homes. Outside of family and work, he has a passion for game theory and the study of decision making, probability and statistical analysis, golf, and mountain biking.

Senior Client Relationship Manager
Ryan joined the team in 2004 and has almost 20 years of financial experience. She’s responsible for operational management and client service, including the design and monitoring of cash flow simulations.
Ryan earned a BS in finance from Metropolitan State College of Denver and holds the Financial Paraplanner Qualified Professional™ (FPQP) designation. She lives in Littleton with husband Steve and their twin boys Brenden and Conner. In true Colorado style, they love the outdoors and can often be found camping, fishing, skiing and hiking.
Senior Operations Specialist
Julie has been a financial services professional for more than 20 years, with extensive experience in operations management, client service and administration, and compliance. She holds a BA in English and BS in mathematics from Regis University, where she graduated with honors.
A Colorado native, Julie is an avid sports fan and regularly cheers on the local teams. In addition to sports, she loves concerts, theater and movies. Julie lives in Arvada with her two dogs, Lucy and Duke.
Chief Compliance Officer
Caryn has been working with the Mattern team since 2014, and has worked in the financial industry for more than 23 years. She is responsible for practice management, administration, operations and compliance, as well as trading oversight.
She holds a BS in finance from Westminster College. When not working, Caryn enjoys carpentry, landscape design and spending time with her family.
